Nasolabial folds are influenced by facial anatomy, midface volume, skin quality and movement. Filler may be one option in selected patients, but treatment planning should address the cause rather than simply filling a line.
How is the area assessed?
Cheek support, fold depth, facial movement, skin characteristics and overall proportions are considered. In some patients, direct treatment of the fold may not be the main priority.
Natural-looking planning
The goal is to avoid overfilling and preserve normal facial movement. Product and amount are individualized according to anatomy and the intended change.
Safety
As with other facial filler procedures, swelling, bruising, infection and vascular complications are possible. Concerning pain or skin-color changes require prompt medical assessment.
Frequently asked questions
Can the fold disappear completely? Complete elimination is not necessarily a desirable or realistic goal; normal anatomy and movement are preserved.
Is filler always the right option? No. The cause and facial proportions determine the plan.
